Alicante, top destination for your holidays in Spain

Whether you are looking for low cost holidays in Spain, a family trip or a culture break to the country, Alicante has to be in your top destinations list. The White Coast- Costa Blanca– is one of the most important places when speaking about tourism in the spanish coastline. And if you are planning your summer vacation and you are in search for a sunny sky, mild temperatures, beautiful beaches to sprawl out on, neon nightlife, amazing food and ancient culture, then Alicante is your best option.

The capital of the Costa Blanca embraces the light and the warm of the Mediterranean Sea and welcomes tourists with open arms. Being the main city in the area, its connections with touristic centers like Benidorm, Calpe, Altea, Denia or El Albir are really good. In fact, you can easily take Alicante’s Tram- the Metropolitan Light Rail System-, which will take you to these fanscinating places in no more than one hour and half.

Life in Alicante is vibrating by day and by night. The warm golden sunshine invites you to explore the Explanada, the palm-lined promenade that covers the coastline from the harbor to the Postiguet beach. Along its yacht-filled marina you will reach this beatiful seashore. From the beachfront you are welcome by the hilltop Santa Barbara Castle, mesmerizing and full of legends.

Not very far away from there, the Alicante Town Hall shows you the baroque architecture of the 18th century. And if it is culture what you seek, there are plenty of museums in the city to visit, like the Archaeology Museum MARQ, the Mubag, Maca and others. And of course, there is the Volvo Ocean Race Museum, where visitors can discover the history of this worldwide famous sports event. Indeed, Alicante is since 2008 the Home Port of the Volvo Ocean Race, which will start this season on Sunday, October 22.

When travelling with kids, the Castle of San Fernando and the Monte Tossal Theme Park are good choices for the children to have fun and play free outdoors games.

When the sun goes down the city offers a great range of possibilities. Start with a tapa in the Calle de las Setas –you can have a beer and a tapa for 2 euros- or dine at one of the bohemian bars and restaurants and then get ready to party in El Barrio, the old quarter neighbourhood where the night-action takes place every night. You can kick off with your drink on the terrace and enjoy the friendly athmosphere of Alicante nights.

And you can find all this places and activities just a few steps from the Alojamiento turístico La Milagrosa, home of BeAlicante, located in the historic city center.

A trip through the coast by Tram

Maybe the best thing about the White Coast is the proximity of all the touristic towns. From the capital you can enjoy an easy reach to Benidorm– 70 minutes-, home of one of the most important english neighborhoods in Spain. Don’t forget to bathe in Levante Beach, where the award-winning television series ‘Benidorm’ has its main stage.

If you continue your travel by this cheap and clean Metropolitan Tram, you can discover the amazing Calpe, El Albir, the beautiful Altea and some other lovely hideouts. In all this small villages history, gastronomy and culture mix with an electric summer life. Futhermore, they gather 200 kilometers of coastline and a variety of theme parks like Terra Mítica or Mundo Mar –where you can meet the animals-, all perfect for the kids to enjoy their holidays in Spain.
