febrero 16, 2018 By news Comments Off

Alicante hosts in March the thirty-first General Assembly of the Spanish Federation of Associations of friends of the Camino de Santiago. A very special event that will bring together the fans of this millenary route with so much history and symbolism, in the capital of the Costa Blanca. It will be on March 2, 3 and 4 at the MACA, the museum that is located right next to La Milagrosa Bed & Breakfast, home of BeAlicante.

The Federation has chosen Alicante as the venue for its annual meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago in Alicante. There are programmed a series of cultural events in homage to this organization that tries to recover the old itinerary of the pilgrims that started from the city to Santiago de Compostela.

The so-called ‘Camino del Sureste’ started in the Middle Ages from the Basilica of Santa María, which is located right next to La Milagrosa. Throughout the city, passing through the historic center, there are still vestiges of the old road, from Villavieja Street to Calle Mayor, Maissonave Avenue, Plaza de la Luna and Vial de los Cipreses.

The central act of the weekend will be on Saturday, March 3, when the Federation holds a fellowship dinner at the Castle of San Bárbara.
