Alicante, star of Fitur 2018
The city of Alicante, and the Costa Blanca in general, have been one of the main protagonists of Fitur 2018, the largest international tourism fair trade held in Spain. ‘Alicante City & Beach’, the tourist brand with which the capital of the province is promoted nationally and internationally, has had its own stand. The city has showed in Fitur its offer as a place for congresses, sporting events and gastronomy, with the “City of Rice” brand.
The tourist offer of the Costa Blanca and Alicante has attracted the attention of the Kings, Don Felipe and Doña Leticia, who stopped at the stand to chat with the President ofFederación de Hogueras, Manolo Jiménez, and with the ‘Bellea del Foc’ Sofia Escoda. They took an official invitation to the Bonfires of San Juan 2018 from their visit.
- Gastronomy and Sports
Alicante has presented itself in Fitur with the motto “In love with our light”, and with a tourism program in which the MICE (tourism of meetings, congresses and events), gastronomic tourism, local festivals, beaches and sports are the main stars. In addition to the nature, the sea and the good climate, Alicante has much more to offer the visitor. One of the characteristics of this land that has been more present in Fitur is its gastronomy, with the brand ‘Alicante Ciudad del Arroz’, which wants to position the municipality as a reference in the gastronomic sector, with rice as the center of our cuisine. Another strong point of Alicante in Fitur has been sports. However, in 2018 the city will host a program of top-level international sporting events, such as the Word Padel Tour.

- A bonfire in Fitur
As every year, the stand of Alicante in Fitur has brought a piece of our famous festivities to Madrid: the Bonfires of San Juan. In this edition, as it has been tradition for many years, a monument (called ‘foguera’) has been planted in the pavilion. In addition, there have also been other important festivals in the area, such as the ‘Moros y Cristianos’, with a parade of more than 1,200 people wiht their music, impressive costumes and traditions.
