Currently the ways to go from the airport to the city center are by bus, cab or private transfers (VTC) which by the way another issue to be addressed as the transport is as to boycott them; in any case it does not seem very coherent that the 6th airport by passengers in Spain, the best airport in Spain and with more than 12 million passengers does not have a rail connection called TRAM, METRO, CERCANIAS, TRANVIA, etc …. where you can move passengers in a fast, convenient and economical way.
In high season it is common to see endless queues of tourists waiting for the bus or cab, and if we talk about arrivals at certain times only the connection is limited to cab or vtc.

Alicante needs a good transport infrastructure, it has an airport and one of the best in Spain and a good connection with the train station and the AVE throughout Spain, recently there is a direct connection OURENSE-ALICANTE.
Alicante airport is the only European airport of its category that is not connected by train; it is necessary to remember that according to European regulations when the traffic is higher than 6 million passengers, a rail connection to the destination city is required. According to ADIF, a deadline of the first quarter of 2026 was set for the drafting of the project; however, it is believed that by the end of 2025 the works may be underway. The bureaucracy of this type of project is very complex and takes a long time. We are talking that only the bidding of the project is 24 months (2 years… supposedly this 2023), then another 14 months for project reports and as for the execution, maximum term of 10 years …. Imagine the time horizon and how much the airport could grow.
Now that we are seeing the light with the bidding process for the congress center, a good connection between the airport and Alicante station will be so important, our tourism needs this project to consolidate, continue to grow and be a competitive destination.
